Slashdot banned Fasttelco
ISPs in Kuwait usualy ban websites, but today it was the opposite thing that happened!
Starting from today (and I don’t know when will it end) If you’re a fasttelco subscriber when you try to access Slashdot.org you’ll get a weired error page saying “Either your network or ip address has been banned from Slashdot”. Of course at the begining I thought that for some reason only my IP has been banned but when I called Fasttelco’s support and told them to check the website they got the same message. It turns out that the ip they banned is the ip of the gateway and all the subscribers will not be able to access it. The technical support guy promised that they will contact them and it might be solved by “tomorrow” .
Now what could possibly be the reason for that ban ?!
Do you think that there’s someone in Kuwait performing a DoS attack on slashdot ?
or is there someone who’s trying to crawl their website using a crude robot?

Someone must be running a batch script or something against it. He missed up with the wrong people. As much as I feel sorry for Fasttelco users, I also feel happy ISPs get a taste of how stupid they block sites.

Bashar: What could that someone want from running a script or batch that fetches information from slashdot ? A clone may be ?
Anyway, Slashdot is accessible Now ( that was a relatively fast response from fasttelco guys )

You never know. Maybe an amature thought he is doing DoS or Password guessing
Or maybe it’s a new Kuwaiti search engine and this is an American conspiracy to stop Kuwait (as usual) from over taking the WWW world.
